R.E.S.I.L.I.E.N.C.E.
What normally happens after a buffet lunch whenever we are out on seminars or workshops? Yawwnning... time, isn't it???
Well, it's always a battle to stay awake especially if the seminar just goes on with people talking one after another. It's like music to your ears that will drift you into deep sleep. What's more if you get a nice cozy spot at the back where no one can really notice you drooling.
But, wait a minute... What the heck I'm doing on stage after lunch with key speakers who are very intelligent or should I say knowledgeable in the field of social resilience.
You want to know why I'm among them. Great...I was given the honour to chair the panel discussion. Isn't it JUST great?! Was forced to volunteer like we always did to our kids in school. The best part was, I'm all alone between them and I had to face about 100 odd teachers from all over Singapore just to raise the issue on social resilience.
At the first place, do I have my personal resilience to wake myself up from dreaming on stage while looking at one participant who closed his eyes right in front of the speakers after lunch.
What do you expect out of the participant after lunch, will they bother coming to the microphone to air their views and share their opinions. The answer is NO..
So..I have to act like one action expertise who thinks that she knows so much about social resilience in order for the discussion to go on.
At the end of the whole discussion, that takes about an hour, what is my takeaways?
There's no egg and flower that you will get if you attend the malay wedding but I think my personal views on the word resilience is this;
R - To be Ready, whenever necessary and to
E - Expect the worst
S - Scenarios
I - In
L - Life to happen
I - If
E - Everything that you want
N - will Not
C - Come your way
E - like you Expected it to be!
So...that's what I get by sitting there and trying hard to look attentive.
At the end of it all, thanks to the word resilience. At least I'm awake throughout after lunch!!!
